Levi’s Made & Crafted in Vogue

January 20th, 2012

The current issue of Vogue (February, 2012) showed up today and none other than Ms. Taylor Swift is featured (beautifully) wearing the Levi’s Made & Crafted “Empire High jeans in Catalina.” One of our most admired musicians in one of our most admired magazines wearing Levi’s, we couldn’t be more pleased.

Outside Dream Job: Aether

August 31st, 2011

It’s good to love what you do. That’s the take away lesson from Jonah Smith & Palmer West co-founders of California-based Aether Apparel. Not satisfied with what was out there in the world of technical, weather-proof clothing the two long time friends (and movie makers) decided to do it themselves and Aether was born. Congratulations to Jonah and Palmer for always setting the bar high and blazing their own trail.

Pitching Talk of the Town C. 1957

July 11th, 2011

This was an interesting little PR nugget that we recent found in the archives of the publisher Viking Press (now owned by Penguin Books). The below memo is a pitch from Viking PR director Pat MacManus to Tony Bailey, an editor of The New Yorker. In the typed memo MacManus works to garner press for Jack Kerouac’s On the Road in the well respected Talk of the Town column.

This document is interesting to us as PR people because, while this type of pitch is done almost exclusively over email these days, the language is basically the same now as it was back then. It goes to show, the delivery method may change, but the message is still the same. On the Road went on to become one of the most popular and lauded books of the era and helped define the “Beat Generation.” With a little help from Kerouac’s PR agent of course.

Beards & P-Coats for AW11

April 13th, 2011

Mr. Randy Goldberg of UrbanDaddy fame couldn’t resist the Levi’s Made & Crafted double breasted p-coat at our recent AW11 press previews. And yes, that beard did make us think Randy was channeling Sean Connery in Hunt for Red October.

Time indeed Randy!

Chances are if you run into Kate this weekend, she’ll be giving you her info. Just don’t read too much into it fellas…

Visiting Red Wing Japan

January 8th, 2011

The fall is the perfect time to visit Japan, which is exactly when we were there last year. Our mission was equal parts business and pleasure. We checked out the shops, hung out in Tokyo and took the train to the Izu Peninsula for onsen. We also met up with our client Red Wing to meet the Japan team, have lunch and see the new company offices. It was great to see the operations and talk about all of the amazing stuff that is happening in Japan for Red Wing. The group there is very good at what they do, which is obvious when you see all of the people that wear Red Wing boots in Japan. Some photos from our visit below. Enjoy!

Above: The old school phone was a nice touch. It works too!

Above: Red Wing Heritage designer Aki shows off some boots he has been testing. Maybe coming soon to a store near you?

Above: The Red Wing Japan guys took us to eat soba. The weather was perfect for our trip to Tokyo.

Above: That’s Red Wing Heritage Group Director Dan Dahl. Needless to say, he doesn’t do much clothes shopping in Japan. Also pictured (with his back to the camera) is friend of P+W and celeb stylist Rob Zangardi and the Red Wing Japan team.
